PLOT
When popular horror actress Rebecca Raven gets the axe from the ‘B’ movie studio that made her a household name, she travels to the country for some rest and relaxation…and a bloody confrontation with a flesh-starved zombie hungry to bite off more than it can swallow. Meanwhile, the frantic studio executives must rummage through past productions to find a sexy new star for their next film, and they come across two fright flicks that may offer a solution. Mechanoid features tiny, killer aliens – on the run from intergalactic police – that crash-land in a New Jersey salvage yard and battle its pissed-off proprietor with a 50-foot-tall creature borne of scrap metal and junked parts. In Lonely Are the Brain, an over-sized, under-stimulated hunk of evil gray matter experiments on beautiful young women for the sole purpose of experiencing human sensual pleasure. Does either film star the next "Rebecca Raven," who could soon be nothing but zombie left-overs?

THE REVIEW
In this, unique, retro-style Horror film from POPcinema's (formerly EI Independent Cinema) Horror label Shock-O-Rama Cinema, comes Brett Piper's latest effort entitled SHOCK-O-RAMA. SHOCK-O-RAMA presents three Horror stories, but they are all interwoven into one principal story. The base story is about a struggling B-Movie Queen by the name of Rebecca Raven. Rebecca has been upset with her roles as of late and has been voicing her opinion about them....well the studio has not been taking her requests to kindly and they agree that they should fire her. Frustrated with the loss of her job, Ms. Raven seeks time alone and takes up resident in a house in a secluded area. Meanwhile back at the studio, Rebecca's former employers rummage through old footage, hoping to find a worthy replacement for the departed Raven. Back at the house, Rebecca Raven finds out that her B-Movie exploits may not be over, as she finds out that a notorious satanist was brutally killed in the very house in which she is staying - and when she cut's herself while shaving, her blood resurrects the corpse(seemingly buried under the house).
After a long hiatus from releasing, Shock-O-Rama Cinema is back, distributed under EI's new(and more catchy, I might add) name, POPcinema. It really feels good for me to have this opportunity to once again review for POPcinema, as I will forever credit them for putting TerrorHook.com on the map - they were the first company to believe in the service we provide for you here today.
I will say that POPcinema is definitely back with a bang, and what better way to do so than with veteran filmmaker Brett Piper. In SHOCK-O-RAMA, Piper taps into Horror comics of old to deliver 3 slick and stylish tales, with 2 of the stories emphasizing a primary story. In the film when the studio heads are searching through stories, the viewers are treated to 2 of them. The first flick features an owner of a junkyard, Jedd Callahan. Jedd is a shady individual, always hitting on girls and doing all things that equal to bad, but he gets a wake up call when the junkyard becomes under attack by aliens. With his estranged girlfriend, Linda Jedd must ward off the evil green men - This story features stop-motion animation much like Piper's other POPcinema feature BITE ME!, only this time a little more fluent and crisp...I have yet to see anyone capture this art better than Brett Piper. The second story, is more psychological, it takes place in a mental institution of some sorts, and all of the patients(noticeably all female) are having weird dreams, some erotic, some funny but strangely they all feature head doctor, Dr. Caruthers. 2 of the patients band together to find the origin of the nightmares, and finally they find the core. It seems that Dr. Caruthers, and her partner, (which is oddly enough a large talking brain) are draining the dreams from the girls, so that the brain could "experience" the joys of human life. This one was odd and off the wall to say the least, but it fit the style of the film very nicely and in my opinion, very well edited. But the most entertaining storyline in the movie is the ones that the short films are their to support....the happenings of Rebecca Raven. It is good to see Miss Misty Mundae in all of her "scream queen" glory again, and just as always she did not fail to impress me. Misty always has an innocence about her and this innocence was useful when portraying the person inside of Rebecca Raven, her ordinary self that lies underneath the B-Movie Queen stardom, just a girl named Ethel. We find Rebecca to be just a normal girl who would just like to live for awhile and relieve the stress that her everyday duties put upon her. But when the zombie starts stalking her, she shows pure determination as she taps into her inner "Rebecca Raven" - the bad ass in which she portrays on film - to fight back - the same attitude that just might get her revenge on her former boss Frank!
The cast is what makes SHOCK-O-RAMA the "barrels-of-fun in a DVD case" that it is. From Michael R. Thomas' always hilarious comedic portrayals, Rob Monkiewicz's knack for playing a hero with a flaw, to the beautiful POPcinema females( I often say that you can't get much better) this film entertained me from beginning to end and is in my opinion, Shock-O-Rama's most complete Horror film to date.

GORE
METER
4.5/10 Some blood splatter here and there and a beheading, and blood on the nude female body.....all done very stylish and impressive...

MUSICAL
SCORE
6/10 The music fit the film perfectly. The film was handled very vintage like, so they accompanied it with the type of music you'd hear on a midnight showing or the old late night anthologies.... I really liked it.

OVERALL
IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
This is quite possibly the best film to come from the Shock-O-Rama Cinema label (trust me i've seen them all) I was highly impressed with the production value here, it looked great, and the cast put in a hell of an effort as well. Brett Piper has outshined himself once again and seems to do so with every project after. This film, was well worth the wait, and I highly recommend this one.
This DVD will be released on Sept. 8th, 2006
