PLOT
L.A. anchorwoman Jamie Douglas has it all: a glamorous career on a top-rated news show, a luxurious house in the hills, and a devoted young admirer named Derek. But when Jamie rebuffs his romantic advances, Derek becomes an obsessed stalker who plays out an increasingly psychotic courtship with the frightened newswoman. Soon he is threatening every part of her life, secretly watching even her most intimate moments. Her tough-talking lover can’t console her. A by-the-book cop can’t protect her. Now Jamie is alone, trapped like an animal and fighting back with the only weapon she has left. Will she finally be forced to use her luscious body to fulfill THE SEDUCTION?

THE REVIEW
In THE SEDUCTION, beautiful blonde reporter Jamie Douglas has been reporting on a string of murders that have been occurring in the LA area as of late - murders that have been dubbed 'The Sweetheart Murders'. In the midst of reporting on such things as these murders, Jamie has been going through troubles of her own as she has been stalked by Derek, a young photographer that has a growing obsession with his favorite news woman. At first Derek's admiration didn't go as far as voyeurism and sending her flowers at the station, and many believed him to be harmless to Jamie, but later they would see things turn worse. Soon Derek begins arriving at her job to deliver candy and a few nice words to Jamie, to showing up inside her home unannounced, and proceeding to snap pictures of her until he is finally thrown out by boyfriend Brandon, who warns the snooper to stay away. When the Police refuse to do anything, it is not long before Derek would strike again, this time letting it be know to all that if he 'can't have her, no one will'. In and incident in which Derek would kill Brandon, in the end we find Jamie an a battle we her only defenses, her body and a shotgun...as it ends in a predictable fashion. The story of a stalking 'guy next door', was something frightening I guess in the early 80's and THE SEDUCTION brought the subject to the forefront, with none other than one of the biggest female stars at the time Morgan Fairchild. With films like this coming out(and probably borrowing inspiration from this film anyway) seemingly every year, this film bares any shock at all.

As many have said about this film and yes I will agree, everything in this film is too perfect and too flawless, the look and feel of THE SEDUCTION is both cloudy and vivid and yet entirely unrealistic. The film plays out like an everyday soap opera, that coincidently Morgan Fairchild herself would have starred in at that time. The acting is stiff and uninspiring - no one will cheer for a heroine to survive, if her hair in every scene and emotion that never changes - they'd rather see someone whom has struggled for their life much like Jamie Lee Curtis in HALLOWEEN.

With a title like THE SEDUCTION, as well as marketing itself as erotic, well you'd expect it to be just that. erotic...but the only thing close to erotic are the pointless nude scenes performed by Fairchild to pad a run time that is a little too long for a film that doesn't have a solid plot to rely on in the first place....

GORE METER
1.5/10 a bloody nose, a bloodless knife in the back as well as a shotgun blast to the stomach - not much excitement.

MUSICAL SCORE
4.5/10 A decent score by Lalo Schifrin, that seems to be mostly piano driven, sorry to say it, but not one of his best works...

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
Overall, THE SEDUCTION is a film that if it came out today would probably end up on cable television, but back in 1982 this film actually had a theatrical run. With the title and the plot summarization given for the film, I expected it to be a thrilling throwback of a film - but found myself rather bored with it.

This title will be released on November 7, 2006
