PLOT
The agony and death of the Trail of Tears. A Cherokee elder, desperate to aid his people. Demons bursting into our world to destroy the entire tribe. And a great flood that washes the evil up into our modern world. The demons await the smell of the returning Cherokee's blood and soon sense the arrival of the elder's descendent. This triggers the demons' ability to possess human beings. The land that was once inhabited by the Cherokee tribe now traps six innocent victims who must unlock the riddles left behind by the Cherokee elder. Demonic possession consumes one victim after another as showers of blood drench the earth and shrieks of pain echo throughout the forest. The possessed are animalistic, frenzied killing machines, feeding on the warm meat of fresh kills. In the darkened fields, only bloodshed, violence, and terror grow now - and tonight the harvest begins.

THE REVIEW
SAVAGE HARVEST, is a no budget, shot on video flick that relies on gore and little else to entertain, unfortunately it happens to fail.

The story begins when a group of friends all meet up to go camping. While there, they meet a man. whom is one of the kid's Uncle I believe gather them together and begins to tell them a local legend about the land in which they are camping. It turns out they are on Indian grounds in which a tribe of Native Americans settled years prior. The Elder leader of the tribe had a hidden secret, and that was that he practiced black magic and summoned various demons that haunt the land. When the rest of the tribe catch notice of the Elder, murder him and stuff him down a well. The man telling the story, has found some stones that have washed up on land that used to surround the area, in which he explains that the elder has captured various evil spirits into the stones. The stones are marked with a variety of animals such as "the boar" and "the wolf", and it is explained that for whomever touches a stone will be possessed by the spirit of the animal that is marked on that particular stone. When questioned if the Elder's spirit can rise again, he says that if anyone of the Cherokee blood of the tribe steps onto this land it would awaken the Elder.

Now I know what I just wrote, probably does not make any since, but that's how I interpreted the film. To me it is really off the wall and confusing. I don't have all that much to say about this film, as I feel the only strong part in this low budget flick is the gore....and you can't base a whole write up just on that. The whole "teenage group getting together for some fun" plot is entirely played out by today's films, maybe that was not the case in 1995, in which this was produced. but in any case, it's stale. As I have pointed out, the gore is rather abundant here. I never said the gore in this film was bad, because in reality, as for as gore they had something going. But perhaps, the most stupidest and non believable plot element in this film was that if someone of Cherokee blood come onto the land, it would summon the deceased Elder. Instead of getting a Native American actor to portray a character, they use this back story that when in the hospital, one of our female characters just happened to get a blood transfusion.... and guess what? In a predictable result, the blood happened to be of a Native American! Now come on people, what are the odds of that happening? Even by horror standards that is a little ridiculous.

As far as acting here, I can't say much. For one, I don't even remember any of the characters'' names, no one in particular really caught my attention enough to remember them.

GORE METER
5.5/10 Although the film is slow and lacking, the gore really manages to live on it's own.

MUSICAL SCORE
2/10 The score here was really bad if you ask me. Some tribe music at first and then we change to some rather cheesy rock music.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
I have seen a lot of great to average reviews for this. All I can say to those is that I am my own individual with my own opinion. I mean no disrespect to anyone in any way. I did not find the film all that enjoyable...but as always, someone else just might..
