PLOT
Nobody Loves Alice" is a classic tale of an unloved little girl so desperate she will do anything to force people to love her. Now grown into a beautiful young woman, Alice is devoted to punishing those who have refused to return her love. She soon becomes entangled in a psychotic twisted plot with her co-worker Abigail in an effort to test her boyfriend's fidelity. Unexpectedly, Abigail has given Alice a new victim to ‘love'. Will Alice finally find love? Or will another innocent person fall victim to the horrific carnage that is Alice? "Nobody Loves Alice" teaches us to think twice about who we partner with in an effort to test one's commitment. This film helps us all to realize that ex-lovers are not always that bad -bad enough to deserve the wrath of Alice.

THE REVIEW
In NOBODY LOVES ALICE, our Alice character is question, has lived a rough life. From a childhood where she had parents that paid her little to no attention, and an adulthood filled of loneliness - is all consumed her so much, that she is truly convinced that no one loves her. Over time, it seems as if Alice has tried hard to have friends and feel love.....especially the love of a man, and has of late, unbeknownst to all, it seems she has been keeping a man chained up in a bedroom....a man in which she tells everyone is her "Boyfriend". Not knowing of Alice's sadistic ways, Abigail, a co-worker ropes Alice into a plan to test her soon to be fiancee Alex's faithfulness - a task that Alice would take literally. After awhile, it's clear that Alex being unfaithful was nothing more than an assumption, but Alice is not finished with him just yet, she has other plans for him, as she lures him back to her place. There, Alice ties up Alex and begins to inflict pain on him, All the while keeping on a straight face for the outside world, especially Abigail. As people begin searching for Alex, Alice, who is paranoid will stop at nothing to make sure she has him all to herself.

We first covered NOBODY LOVES ALICE here at TerrorHook.com, on our newsboard(a newsboard that is now defunct - and will be gone when we find time to redesign the site), and all I had really known about it was that this was an indie film that was put together by some North Carolina film students during a winter holiday.

At first glace of the new cover art for the DVD, you'd probably assume that NOBODY LOVES ALICE falls in that much publicized and talked about sub-genre that they are now calling "Torture Porn", but the truth is that this film is far from being limited to just one Horror niche, it is thrilling, and yes gory and horrific, but most of all, to me, it was a psychological character study of Alice, a woman who, shy and quiet on the outside, yet, cold and sadistic on the inside and behind closed doors. Alice's kick is that she has been mistreated all of her life, so much so, that she's at a point in her life, in which she believes no one cares about her - it's not true, but in her head it is. She essentially makes people love her the best way that she knows how, by torture, and each time she does so, she ties them down, so they can't leave her...much like others have through out her life. Initially the film as that feeling of a film such as the awesome film MAY or it's ok, but lackluster semi-sequel, ROMAN, in comparison, i'd say that NOBODY LOVES ALICE, favors the story that of ROMAN, but honestly speaking, I thought that, although a slightly low budget and less experience, NOBODY LOVES ALICE, does a much better job than ROMAN, when delivering a realistic portrait of someone who is love-hungry, and starving for attention.

Obviously shot on digital, the film does have a very low budget look, and at times, the lighting doesn't complement it very well....but with all of that aside, for a project that seems to have been a spontaneous one, NOBODY LOVES ALICE's story is presented very well, and is very fluent. It doesn't play out unflawed however, and like just about any other independent Horror film it does have it's flaws. In my opinion, it's biggest flaw would have to be the film's pacing, as there are a few scenes of dialogue that seems to have been put in to "pad out"(i.e.. "filler"), the film's runtime and just seem to run a little too long. But when it finally gets there, NOBODY LOVES ALICE's strongest point lies within the film's last 15 minutes and it's climax. For a film with it's budget size, NOBODY LOVES ALICE certainly packs a punch full of suspense and anticipation when it counts the most.

GORE METER
5.5/10 We have things such as a severed leg and tongue, along with a throat slashing and multiple stabbings, both surprising and effective for it's allowed budget.

MUSICAL SCORE
5/10 The score is a very noticeable one, with it's use of multiple instruments(mostly piano-like tunes), it kind of reminded me of a score that would be found in an Italian Horror film.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
NOBODY LOVES ALICE is a realistic portrayal of a woman who desperately believes she has been wronged all of her life, and knows but only one way to fill her void....but of course the short answer here is that the character of Alice just wants to be loved, even if it is in her own twisted way. For the most part I enjoyed NOBODY LOVES ALICE, and although only her first role, the star, Nitzan Mager gives an impressive performance as the film's namesake, Alice.
