THE REVIEW
The basic plot for MAN VS, WOMAN, the Sci-Fi epic short by Juan Carlos Vargas is simple. It revolves around a deserted planet, located in seemingly "parts unknown" The landscape of the said planet is dry and desert-like, and is nearing extinction do to a low water supply. The planet's only inhabitants a man, woman, a Velociraptor(Dinosaur) and a Cyborg are all struggling to survive, and as with any living being, they need water to survive, and then they all discover the same lone puddle of water, a fight ensues between the group of very different species.

From Writer/Director Juan Carlos Vargas comes a Sci-Fi short film that clocks in at a mere 14 minutes, but in that length of time delivers the action that of a full length feature. The film consists of only 2 Human stars, the two being, new comer Robert Reavis and Horror Scream Queen Tiffany Shepis, the other 2 stars are of CGI animation. Juan Carlos Vargas is a professional CGI animator by trade, and let me just say the man is talented, as the two virtual characters actions and mannerisms are of ultra realism.

According to the Director, MAN VS. WOMAN, is just the start of something bigger and that the short is only the starting point for a full length feature he plans to give us in the future, pending how well it does on the festival circuit. Well as I understand so far it has fared very well, I can only hope that Mr. Vargas is able to secure the finances needed to fund his full length, as his short is remarkably fantastic, I can't wait to see more!

GORE METER
Really no gore to speak of, but the action is great, we get to see a robot blown to bits and the Velociraptor's tongue is severed.

MUSICAL SCORE
5.5/10 Typical Sci-Fi action score but it fits the short very well and makes it even more fun than it already is.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
MAN VS. WOMAN, is short in length but long on entertainment value - and ultimately leaves you wanting more. I really enjoyed the film and as I said, Director Juan Carlos Vargas seems to be a very talented individual that has plenty of talent left to show us. In short, I have reviewed quite a few shorts here on the site, and I can honestly say that MAN VS. WOMAN has been one of the most enjoyable to me so far... fans of films such as CYBORG should enjoy this film.
