PLOT
Mina Harker isn't the happiest of Hollywood Hills wives - even though she's married to wealthy pharmaceuticals magnate Jonathan Harker. The repressed Mina longs for Jonathan's love and the happiness a child would bring them, yet the arrival of the beautiful and mysterious Dracula- seductive vampire servants at her side - will change their lives forever. Dracula offers Mina the sensual existence she so desperately craves - one that is immediately threatened by Mina's sister, Dr. Abigail Van Helsing. Van Helsing seeks to not only destroy the monstrous vampire but covet Mina's seemingly perfect life and husband Jonathan, too. As these troubled characters move ever closer toward their destinies and a final battle with Dracula, blood will be spilled, souls will be destroyed, and love will become undying.

THE REVIEW
Lust for Dracula is a rather new twist on Bram Stoker's Dracula. Now I know what you are thinking at this moment after reading that, "But there have been literally hundreds of Dracula spin-offs" Well you would be right, but this one is done quite differently. Director Anthony Marsiglia tells this famous tale, in a stunning visual sense, combining eroticism and horror to create the ultimate atmosphere for the film.
This rather bizarre story, involves Mina who is played by Misty Mundae. Mina's outer appearance may portray her as a beautiful young woman, but in reality, the shocking truth is that she is what appears to be, troubled mentally. Mina's husband Jonathan, whom is the owner of "his" own pharmaceutical company, seems to treat his wife with nothing but disrespect. Longing for a child the couple tries many a time un successful, this spins Mina into a more depressed state. So much so that she talks to a piece of straw as it were her child! The fun does start heating up when Dracula played by the wonderfully versatile Darian Caine shows up, and she convinces Mina that if she joins her hand and hand that they both can bring something "special to the world" Mesmerized by Dracula's sex appeal Mina is sucked right into her plan. This film has many sub plots, the drama once unfolds when Mina discovers when Jonathan has been drugging her all along, to hide the fact that she is really a man and that the reality of them having a child together was never true. Now this is really wacky and it makes you wonder just how weird Marsiglia truly is, but really it just had a bit of Psycho traumatic turmoil to the whole thing....with is great.. Another interesting aspect to this film is that Dracula leads a horde of young female vamps that seem to have an undying loyalty to her and that will do anything she asks of them. Often the girls are met with a choice to go on their own or keep in good standing with their leader, at one point Mina is in the fight against dracula and her followers. If you look at it this way this film also offers a lesson in that if you use another's influence to cover and hide your own deceit and misfortunes you will only tend to make these problems worse.
After seeing this, as this is my first time seeing one of Tony's films(More to come soon though) it has made me an instant fan of his! Marsiglia really knows how to set the mood for his pictures, he seems to make the best out of all of his surroundings. He captures in one scene, where to school girls, whom are obviously attracted to their teacher, begin masturbation while staring anxiously at her, Now before you even begin to label this as porn, it is not, it is but a rather stylized piece of cinematic ART! He takes beautiful women bloodies them up and manages to make them look good, I hope all of the films that I may see of his are just as good as Lust for Dracula. This feature was an unrated directors cut, which gave him the freedom of expression. The film is also available in an R-rated version, but I do not see this film in any other way.....unrated is how this should be presented...
I thought the acting was great in this film, far better than usual for some of the actors. Darian Caine, here does an amazing job as Dracula, one scene I remember quite well is when the character of Mina meets Dracula. Mina in a rather curious manner asks Dracula her age and she quickly answers with "2000" in disbelief Mina has a puzzled look on her face, this may not sound too funny in type but when you are watching it is! The previous scene I mentioned was good, but my favorite scene is this film is when Mina is talking to her baby(the corn stalk, or whatever it is!) She proceed to read it a children's book, now being a Misty fan, I have not quite seen her act in such a "warm and fuzzy" state before. I definitely think that this might be the best performance I have seen from her so far.
Now this is the first time, I have ever saw Andrea Davis on film, I hope that this young woman has a bright future ahead of her. Even though her role here is less prominent than the others, she really brings a presence to the screen, she's very beautiful and seems hugely talented. Also Julian Wells, she manages to take a rather kooky and awkward role and makes the most out of it, making it one of the reasons I like her so much. The rest of the acting is just ok, the worst actor of the bunch was Casey Jones, whom appeared to be very green as this was her first time on screen. Overall this movie is proof that EI Cinema has some of the hottest women on the planet! Honestly Lust for Dracula might just be the best EI production I have seen so far!

SPECIAL
FEATURES RATING
5/10 As always EI Independent Cinema's features are cool, me get a behind the scenes look at the film, with quick interviews with the cast, it also shows misty with her trusty guitar in hand. Also included is an on location interview with Misty as she answers questions. What's left is some lame short film entitled "Insex" It was so boring I didn't even bother to finish.
