THE REVIEW
This movie was a lot of fun! INTERMEDIO, well the term "intermedio" in this film refers to a person whom is between the stages of life and death. The story reminds me a lot of another film called DETOUR, in which a group of kids break down in the desert during a quest to find a stash of marijuana. In this film, INTERMEDIO the kids are looking for marijuana from a dealer who stashes it deep into an underground cave. Little do the dealers or the group of kids know, there are is a force, a group of tortured spirits, or "Intermedios" waiting to pray upon them. Also there is an old man by the name of John lurking in the shadows of the cave, and he seems to be hiding something as he almost shares a bond with these souls.
First off without giving too much of the movie away, I think this whole movie's premise, even though might've have been partially done before, is every interesting, The fact of having spirits that you can't see first hand attack you, just adds more depth to to film's gore, and as far as the killings you don't know what you will see.
Admittingly, what initially drew my interest to this film was the great principal cast. I mean you have Edward Furlong, who has been in a ton of wonderful movies, he has been getting a lot of flack as of late, for his off camera escapades, but on camera, he is still that person, although you can not a slight change. And next we have Cerina Vincent who appeared in CABIN FEVER, she is absolutely downright gorgeous, one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen, and she has acting ability to add to that! And we have Steve Railsback as John "The Old Man", Steve is one of my most favorite actors ever, he is just simply amazing, I have been watching him in HELTER SKELTER and ED GEIN for years. Railsback just has something inside of him that he can turn on and off, he can be nice, but when the time calls he can turn up the evil making his very versatile.
For first time Director Andy Lauer, he has succeed in bringing to life a great picture. Coupled with great photography, this film almost has the feel of a mainstream film, but not quite.

GORE
METER
6/10 Part of the reason why this film is so fun, we get hooks through eyes, severed fingers, decapitated bodies among other things.

MUSICAL
SCORE
1/10 The score is merely non existent aside from the opening and closing titles, I didn't want to give it a 0 |

SPECIAL
FEATURES RATING
3.5/10 Besides a making of/interview featurette and commentary, it's pretty bare. But it was nice to hear from the actors and filmmakers in the featurette. |

OVERALL
IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
As I said this film us a lot of fun, in some parts slow but it gets better as it goes along. Really enjoyable, this film gets 2 point's for Cerina Vincent's thong and body alone! Upon further inspection, it looks like I am the only one that's really giving this film praise, ...well that's just how it's going to have to be.
