THE REVIEW
In I KNOW WHO KILLED ME, Aubrey Fleming a rich student whom has a knack for writing is abducted by Serial Killer that has a fascination with the color blue - he also has a fascination with severing the limbs of his victims. Missing several limbs, Aubrey somehow manages to escape her attacker and some how ends up in the hospital. Waiting in anticipation for her awaking are investigators and Aubrey's parents. To their surprise, the young woman, although she looks identical to Aubrey Fleming, she insists that she is a different person, with a different background, and that her name is Dakota Moss. What "Dakota is telling everyone is not much believed by them as they see it as a delusion brought on by the attack. Confused as to how she relates to Aubrey, and how she got in her predicament, she digs deep into her memory and a few secrets she discovers involving the family of Aubrey Fleming, and realizes that the connection between she and Aubrey is much deeper than she even realized.

I KNOW WHO KILLED ME(before her recent media fiascos), was believed to be the film that would do away with the "Mickey Mouse ears" of Lindsay Lohan, proving her to be a bonafide actress and not one to be type casted in never ending Disney movies. But at as fate would have it, Lohan's bad publicity would out weigh the success of this film, mostly due to the film's star being un available for press and promoting purposes.

First off, I am in no way a fan of Lindsay Lohan, not at all, I really had no interest in seeing this, but I was willing to give it a fair chance anyway. I have already stated my primary reason for not wanting to see it, but my other reason would be this film's extremely bad press - everywhere I looked and listened it was one bad review after another. The film starts of as a sleek and dark teenage mysterious, much like a film that would fit along with just about any teen slasher, but then slowly transcends into being in the vein of a film like CAPTIVITY, but unlike that film, I KNOW WHO KILLED ME initially seemed to have an actual story going for it. But this doesn't last long, as a story that could've been told to it's audience in the least difficult manner actually takes the route of telling it in the most unclear and implausible way possible.

The pace of the film is all over the place as just when you think you figured out something, something else comes along to counteract it. There isn't enough character development here to support the complicated plot of the story, a lot is left only vaguely elaborated on, while other things, such as the killer's overall motive is left unanswered. Nothing is too clear here which offers no real conclusion, it's likely anyone who sees this film will have their own opinion as to what was actually going on.

As far as the film's acting goes, no one really stood out to me as not too many of the characters are actually that developed, as I mentioned, and also the dialogue wasn't that inspiring ever - I couldn't help but think the actors were just doing the best they could with the given material. Most of the focus is maintained on Lindsay Lohan, the star of the film, whom for the second time in her career is playing identical twins - but this time the target audience is much older, not to mention that one of the said twins in which she portrays hops on a stripper pole in her spare time.

Overall, I KNOW WHO KILLED ME, is a film that looks great, and even starts out that way, but it eventually loses steam when it tries to be too smart and not only confusing us, but itself as well, I feel the filmmakers spend too much time on the look of the film, and not nearly enough time on the act of conveying it's story - and no Lindsay Lohan dancing on a pole isn't enough to save it....she just doesn't do it for me, and probably never, ever will.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
I KNOW WHO KILLED ME is a film that the filmmakers, and the studio behind it believe is a smart and effective thriller, but is really more effective at being confusing rather than "thrilling - and with it being amongst a pool of films with the same subplot (torture) to come out recently, seems more like a quick cash in than anything else. The film is another case of "could've been....but wasn't"
