| THE REVIEW I checked out I DRINK YOUR BLOOD, because of it's supposed 'cult status' After watching this film I don't know how a film such as this got the above mentioned cult status, nor it's following that it now seems to have today. Even by 1970's status this film is completely below average, now I can't begin to testify and say that a 70's film cannot own a quality about them, just look at THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, AMITYVILLE HORROR, and THE TOOLBOX MURDERS. All of these mentioned films are for more superior than I DRINK YOUR BLOOD. We are presented with a somewhat ridiculous story, in which a hippie sadist cult rapes a girl, This then enrages the girl's family into taking revenge against the cult. None seem to be more enraged than the girl's younger brother Pete. Out during the night, Pete happens to shoot and kill a rabid dog.....In his on little twisted mind he decides to inject the dog's blood into meat pies that are to be fed to the cult. Pete uses this for his ultimate revenge but what he does not know is that this will backfire on him, and eventually infect the whole town. Back in the day this film was rated 'X' by the MPAA....for what I don't know. Maybe this was a 70's cautionary thing, but in today's standards this film is no more graphic in nature than you would see on your everyday television set, The story may have been great if done a little differently and lost a lot of the comedy within the script. I feel that this should have been played out as a more serious movie. Sure the whole meat pie thing is hilarious, but think about it, it could really and truly happen.......I suppose:) I'll be blatantly honest and say that the acting in I DRINK YOUR BLOOD was absolutely terrible, the overall best performance, to me would be Jack Damon, as Roger. However 'my' favorite and maybe most memorable performance was by Lynn Lowry as Carrie, the mute girl that was part of the murderous cult..... she was so cute back then and now she is a little bit older but still equally as beautiful! In the special features, David Durston the director called reviewers of today like myself, 'amateurish' well David, I know what I am talking about, and your movie flat out blows... so get over it buddy! |

METER 6/10 one of the highlights, a lot of severed limbs, although not quite strong enough to carry an entire film. |

FEATURES RATING 7/10 The best part of the dvd, simply because you are treated with never before seen exclusives. The get scenes that were deleted never to be seen again and also extended cuts. Perhaps the thing that out shines the rest is Durston interviewing select cast members, catching up with all the happenings in their lives and their memories of shooting. Interviewed are; Lynn Lowry, Jack Damon, Tyde Kierney and the ad design guy that is responsible for the film's ridiculous title........there is NO blood drinking in this film! |

IMPRESSION OF THE FILM I suppose a lot of people will hate me for not liking I DRINK YOUR BLOOD, but I am just calling it as I see the film, and what I see is another over hyped classic, that stands highly overrated for more than 30 years. |
