A female humanoid from the ice age, recently discovered sealed in a tomb of amber deep in the Amazon forest. A desperate struggle with a double-crossing pilot sends his plane crashing into the snow-covered Killington Mountains, exposing, the humanoid ice queen to the elements and causing an avalanche that engulfs a nearby ski resort. The stunned survivors at the ski resort are trapped inside the shattered building underneath mountains of snow. Even worse, something deadly has been unleashed underneath the snow with them. The Ice Queen. Thrown from the crash, She has awakened from the cold, gruesomely deformed, viciously powerful, and terrifyingly evil. With little-air left and the resort collapsing around them, the survivors must make a deadly gamble; face the ice queen, or succumb to certain death.

THE REVIEW
From MTI Home Video comes another horror effort entitled ICE QUEEN. The cover looked rather interesting when I got it in the mail the other day, so I put it on my "to do" list. What I got when I popped the movie in was a film that, like in almost all of MTI's titles, is over the top and quirky. The plot is a bit ridiculous yet it does provide some interesting moments throughout. The fact that we have a centuries old young woman from the Ice Age, whom is transformed into a terrifying creature upon being defrosted is a bit out there. Really, what doesn't make sense to me is that the woman, appears to be normal until she happens to be thawed out....which turns her into a bloodthirsty creature.

The story of the film begins when the plane carrying the female humanoid crashes as a result of an argument/scuffle between the pilot and the doctor. The plane since causes an avalanche that engulfs the whole mountain-side as well as the ski resort. We are left with few survivors and it is up to them to stop this creature.

I had a hard time rating this one, simply for the fact that although extremely cheesy, some parts were fairly good. But as much as there is good there is also things that left you feeling annoyed. For one when you first see the Ice Queen, you are thinking "she looks really cool!" but after the first 20 minutes or so, he screaming and antics really get under your skin and you just can't wait for her to die.. With that there is also a very slow pace going into the film it drags it down and you are left waiting for all possible "good stuff" to happen. But one of the high points of the film is that when the action begins it hardly dies down.... The Ice Queen has a very col killing method in which she freezes her victims from the inside out, now I think I remember this from another film, but I can't seem to remember right now...still great nonetheless.

The acting except for a few was really all just below average, but still your typical B standard. The performance that i'd have to say it the best here is Tori played by Noelle Reno. Despite rally being the best looking of the 3 female cast members, she also does a very good job, not great but certainly good...this being her first feature. Next we have Jennifer Hill, who plays Elaine, the girl whom the previous night slept with Johnny behind Girlfriend Tori's back Jennifer Hill looks as if she should be on runways instead of the acting stage, as her looks were there but not the performance. Maybe it's because she has minimal experience on screen or it may be that the horror genre is just not for her, I guess only time will tell. Johnny, who seems to be our main character, he it played by Harmon Walsh, also a first timer, he does an ok job....I feel that Walsh could have made the character more stronger than was portrayed as he really doesn't attack The Ice Queen with any level of confidence, in other words he could've delivered his dialogue in a much stronger manner.

All in all this film sometimes gives the feeling that you are watching THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW...minus the high budget effects mind you.... but some of the elements of this film are closely relating. With that being said, this movie isn't really all that bad, but its not great at all, coupled with a bad plot, and bad acting.. you are left with this a few things but not much.

GORE METER
4/10 it is quite gory, most of the gore comes from the plane crash and not from the kills.... me do get a few hands through chests, and a dismembered arm at one point.

MUSICAL SCORE
3/10 This film is accompanied by a few rock tracks, but this film is not really musically driven at all.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
All I can say about this film. is that some moments are good, but if you are looking for a movie packed with excitement, this is not it. Despite me saying all this I will say that ICE QUEEN may be worth a rental though..
