THE REVIEW
From Director Joe Dante comes this MASTERS OF HORROR episode, that delivers a strong political message. Homecoming tells a story, that if possible could be eerily realistic. In HOMECOMING, publicity official for the President Of the United States, David Murch makes a wish that he'll soon forget. While on a news talk television show, he speaks to the Mother of a soldier that has died in the war, during the conversation, he inadvertently states that "If he had one wish, he'd wish that her son could come back to confess just how grateful he was to die for his country". What Murch wanted to say was the opposite, but he was put on the spot and said what his peers wanted to hear. Nevertheless, the statement backfires on everybody after the president echoes it in one of his speeches, soon, the dead DO come back, and they are on a mission and that mission is to vote against the president, in which after doing so they perish - not even a gunshot to the head can kills these guys but their closure and free speech will, which is all they want. All chaos seems gone until those greedy politicians turn away from the agreement they had made with them and they do not count their votes....

I haven't been reviewing the previous installments of MOH and there is one one answer as to why - I haven't been receiving them. This episode, HOMECOMING, is an awesome piece of free speech, displayed in the way it should be. This story, if it were possible for our dead soldiers to rise again, could be very real. What would they say? Would they be justified in the way they died for a silly war, or would they say something similar to what the President feeds us in his addresses, and wants us to believe? This episode has a great deal of humor that pokes fun at our president and I love it - the soldiers actually coming back to over throw the president is quite hilarious and you just really wish it was reality - I do hope our lovely President has seen this episode...

The acting here is excellent, especially by Jon Tenney and Robert Picardo. Jon Tenney, puts full emotion into David Murch, the character in which he plays...you really do forget that he is just acting you truly do believe he is the character - great performance. A good portion of the film's zany comedy comes from Robert Picardo, who is just great, what a fantastic actor he is!

HOMECOMING is a great effort, by Joe Dante, the Director of THE HOWLING and GREMLINS, and he definitely gets the point across I think he was hoping to make in his contribution to MASTERS OF HORROR.

GORE METER
4/10 Not to gory, but there is some blood shed and some instances of overkill!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MUSICAL SCORE
3.5/10 The typical patriotic themes you'd expect in a political film, nothing fancy....

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
This episode is both enjoyable and funny. If you have doubts about the war or have a disgust for the current presidency, this is the film for you.
