PLOT
In the tiny town of Thorsby, Alabama, the dead begin rising from their pine boxes and feeding on the locals. Since the law enforcement is out of town, the local video store clerk joins with the sheriff's secretary, a retired deputy, and the single G-man sent to the site. Together, they arm themselves with all the weapons and farm tools possible and unleash a healthy dose of Southern justice on the army of the undead.

THE REVIEW
Even though the recent zombie movie trend is spreading rapidly almost as fast as the plague they depict on screen, and I have grown tired of seeing such films, HIDE AND CREEP is pure delight.

The story takes place in the small town of Thornsby Alabama, where the only highlights of the town are not much more than a video store and the local grocery. The seemingly mild mannered, and boring town gets a little more exciting all of the sudden when the dead rise from their graves to feed on those who live. It just so happens that the lawman is out of town, so the video store clerk, the said lawman's secretary and a local hunter wedge their own war against the walking dead.

Just when I thought I couldn't stomach yet ANOTHER zombie flick, The Asylum send HIDE AND CREEP my way. Let me just tell you, I am so glad I didn't dismiss this! Although (by horror standards) a serious subject, HIDE AND CREEP mixes the traditional tale of the zombie with just the right amount of comedy. Yes a lot of people tell me that they loved SHAUN OF THE DEAD...well I did not and I will not lie about it. Another film similar was DEAD AND BREAKFAST, which I did happen to enjoy.... well this, HIDE AND CREEP adventure is on that same level of enjoyment. I do not believe that this film was ever intended to be serious, but rather funny and funny it was and is. I don't remember a movie, in the last month or so besides CHAINSAW SALLY, that has entertained me or made me laugh this much...redneck humor is great, embrace it!

The acting here is i'd say almost average, but it definitely works in order to keep you entertained. Chuck Hartsell, whom pulls double duty here as co-director and one of the film's stars, plays the video store owner Chuck ironically. Chuck opens the movie, he is on the phone with a customer whom is in dire need to rent a zombie flick...and to Chuck's surprise they are all checked out. The reason I mention this segment is that Chuck names off a lot of the undead classics....which in turn I thought was a brilliant homage. Another Standout is Kyle Holman whom plays Keith, Keith's attitude kind of reminds me of Ted Nugent... he lives to hunt and his whole family is into it as well. I have not seen are heard from Kyle Holman since his role as "Snowboy" in SLEEPAWAY CAMP III : TEENAGE WASTELAND, it was really great to see him and to see he is still entertaining as ever.

The two directors Chuck Hartsell and and Chance Shirley, seem to have an eye for comedy and that is very apparent in HIDE AND CREEP.

GORE METER
5/10 Nice blend of blood, comedy and female(and "ahem" male too) nudity... just the way most like it!

MUSICAL SCORE
4.5/10 The music was ok, but I think the viewer will be more focused on catching the next joke that is thrown out by the cast, rather than the backing music. But what we did have was some country-ish sounding tunes, if I remember correctly.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
If you enjoy a little comedy along with your zombie, or you just want to see an 8 or 9 year old girl eagerly tell her dad that she killed a zombie today, all the while holding a huge bloody machete..... this is for you! I highly recommend HIDE AND CREEP to you.
