THE REVIEW
Going into this movie, I expected a lot more than I actually ended up getting from it. I had heard many Halloween references linked to this film. Being honest here, the only remote similarity between this film and halloween is that our killer has escaped from a mental hospital.... that is it really. Our killer whom is disfigured facially, was tormented by an over-bearing mother, a mother he eventually kill with his own hand. Years later the troubled man finds himself in a mental institution... Scheduled to be transferred to another hospital, a young attendant transport our quiet killer by van. On the way there the young attendant makes an unscheduled pit stop, living the van unguarded makes way for our menacing killer to make his escape. We then find our killer hiding inside a near by pickup, which is owned by a local repair shop owner, it isn't long until the killer begins his murderous spree... Another central part of the story are 2 sisters as they travel through Ohio. The two sisters, one of which who is the guardian of her younger sibling have decided to move shortly after losing their parents. Unknowingly the two traveling sisters would cross paths with the ever so relentless murder.

The Acting is a little bit less than average for this film, which is rather quite disappointing to say the very least about it. It just felt as if the actors, had little to no experience, sometimes in films this can be made less prominent, but in the case of Freak it is all too noticeable to me at times. The plot seemed to literally be hanging on by it's last thread at times, it was really just one big mess, at times the audience, (that being me) didn't know what they were watching. The movie is truly un organized, it almost seems as if it couldn't juggle all of the things that were happening on screen.

This film also lacked all the action that films such as Halloween possess, I was looking for more to come in the later minutes of the film, but that unfortunately never came.

It has been 45 minutes since watching this film, and I STILL do not understand the ending, or what went on for that matter.

GORE METER
4/10 Not really all that gory, but some real nice blood splatter towards the beginning of the film. .

MUSICAL SCORE
2/10 This film was not well scored, it could've used a lot of work here, the movie has some very bland rock tracks occasionally.

SPECIAL FEATURES RATING
3/10 The special features on the disc, included a short film by two young Texas filmmakers. I being from the state of Texas, looked forward to seeing it. I have to say that this was one of the WORST shorts I have ever witnessed....how did these guys graduate film school? I know someone personally in the indies, will I do work for him and he has produced shorts that put these guys at the end of the ladder, and the thing is...we had LESS money than these two! This film was produced by Kim Henkel, co-producer of 1974's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Mr.. Henkel I respect you and thank you for TCM, but just because you made that classic does not mean any rip-off or sequel of it that you do will even be close! Texas Chainsaw Massacre the Next Generation was a travesty, and shouldn't have been made.

Also added was a trailer for Freak, a production reel as well as a blooper reel and Shock-O-Rama trailer vault.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
I will say that, I am kind of disappointed in "Freak", I was expecting a far greater film. What I got was a film with a plot that seemed very loose and the movie was just hard to follow and catch onto for it's viewer. I would not recommend this film as I did not find it too good...

As for me, I still hold out hope for the future Shock-O-Rama titles I will review.
