THE REVIEW
In FEAST, it seems liked just another night at The Bear Tavern, with all of it's regular customers, all of whom are distinctly different in tow, that is until something out of the ordinary happens. A young man barges into the bar and warns everyone of a pending attack by alien like creatures, in which then no one believes him, not until he is then eaten alive and swallowed whole right in front of them. Before we know it the remaining characters, the forewarner's wife, the sly bartender, a single mother, the seemingly promiscuous dancer/actress, a handicapped gentleman, the comedic funny-man, the bar owner, and the bar's seemingly resident badass are all in a fight for their lives against a band of creatures from an origin unknown.
FEAST comes to us via a whole slew of folks, most namely, Wes Craven, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and the famous Maloof clan(two of whom own both the Sacramento Kings and Palms Casino), and is the result of the reality series PROJECT GREENLIGHT 3 and it's winner John Gulager. Right out of the gate I will admit to never even seeing PROJECT GREENLIGHT before, but I did see season one's winning entry, THE BATTLE OF SHAKER HEIGHTS. TBOSH. was in fact impressive, but after seeing FEAST I have to saw that I am impressed even more, PROJECT GREENLIGHT seems to be one of the only few reality shows that is actually contributing something beneficial to entertainment rather than adding even more disposable schlock to it.
I went into FEAST not knowing what it was about and not knowing what to expect from it, to coming out of it utterly amazed, John Gulager, crafts an in-your-face, creature-fest, that is not only of great quality, but of great entertainment value as well. Feast takes the old creature feature approach, almost reminding me of films such as CRITTER'S and the TREMORS series, except what differs from these said films is that FEAST boasts a lot more violence and is gory as hell! Here we has all the makings of a would be classic, the witty, sometimes comically entertaining dialogue to the downright nasty and slimey gore, such as someone being devoured whole. In my opinion, I can honestly state that there was never a dull moment in the film. All of the characters, all strikingly different in some way as I noted, and they all are likeable in a sense, it's remarkable how well this cast of individuals that were virtually thrown together, interact and feed off of one another.
Speaking of the cast it is a mixed bag, a few are names that are better known while the remaining cast are up and coming actors. Film veteran Clu Gulager, (whom is also the director's father) is just awesome in his role as the wise cracking, "take no shit" bartender. This character was both a badass and very funny all in one, this makes me ponder a dream match-up of both Clu and R. Lee Ermey in a movie together, I think it would be great! But the CLERKS/JAY AND SILENT BOB, fans that are seeing this one, will be very disappointed to hear that Jason Mewes' Horror debut isn't a very long one, but it was nice to see him here anyway. The film also hosts a couple of very attractive females, and what's better than a female covered in both blood and slimey goo? But these girls prove to be more than just eye candy, as each of the women ; Navi Rawat, Jenny Wade and Krista Allen all play their characters respectfully well. In short, all of the cast are great, but perhaps the most interesting(and funny) character is "The Beer Guy" portrayed by comedian, Judah Friedlander- the guy is more than funny!
Overall, FEAST is a film with a very simple plot, and has only one real objective and that is to match-up two very different forces, humans and "monsters" in one intense battle. In that aspect i'd say that the filmmakers have exceeded their expectations as they do have a film that is incredibly intense and with cleaver dialogue, it never slows down a bit - it is a total rollercoaster!

OVERALL
IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
As someone whom isn't very big on monster and creature flicks, I have to say that this really changes my mind about them. FEAST is a film that doesn't try too hard to impress, as it often seems very comedic in a way, but it does in fact impress, the just word to describe this one would be simply "fun". John Gulager, may have a lot of harsh criticism out there but there is no denying that his debut is definitely a keeper! I recommend this highly entertaining gore fest to everyone...
