THE REVIEW
With a title that reads and a story that unfolds much like an old Boris Karloff Horror flick comes DR. DENIRO AND MR. ?. After feeling snubbed at an award ceremony, a down on his luck Robert Deniro(yes you read correctly) heads home to sulk in his defeat. He finds himself questioning his ability as an actor and even consults a cameo-ing Joe Pesci about it....after he gets an idea. Deniro heads to his laboratory in the back of his home and there he cooks up a potion, but despite what you might expect, it is not Mr. Hyde that he becomes, but rather the felt clad character from the Muppets known as "Mr.Beaker". Now as Beaker, Deniro as a hefty disguise that will allow him to take aim at his 2 primary foes, Christopher Walken and Jack Nicholson, and that he does! Deniro finds that not only does he get revenge he also gets the praise as he longed for all along, as the world has been taken by storm with an ample love for yes....Mr. Beaker.

DR. DENIRO AND MR. ? is a film that for once, I had NO IDEA what to expect, I had been advised by my pal Director Dave Campfield to check it out, and for the longest time I had put it off until now. What I got with this film is something truly out of the norm as it is shot and presented in a strictly "One Man Band" formation, as Director and seemingly impersonating genius, Dave Coyne did it all from the film's production, direction and yes, starring as every character found within this 12 minute short film.

Director Dave Coyne's talents seem virtually limitless, before viewing this film I had seen a few web skits he had done on YouTube, I was impressed then and I am even further impressed with the talent that this guy possesses, it is somewhat unbelievable. Coyne during his plethora of impressions has the niche to make you chuckle, yes, but the brilliance of his accuracy is just something you find yourself amazed by, especially his almost dead-on Christopher Walken impersonation - voice and all!

The plot is very basic as well as set up, due to time allowed but the quality and dedication shown by Coyne in this gem of a project more than makes up for it's short run time. Unfortunately since the film is just that, a short, there is just so much I can write about it, yet a lot should be said about this unknown achievement..... it is straight to the point enjoyment!

GORE METER
1/10 DR. DENIRO AND MR. ? is more of a comedy with an old time Horror story backdrop, so with that said the only "gore" you find here is a bleeding head wound towards the film's completion.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
DR. DENIRO AND MR. ? is a film that you rarely will find, a film with slick production, top-notch performances(all by one individual for that matter) and even a vintage throwback look and feel, all in one place. Before seeing it, the notion of me enjoying this seemed unlikely, but after seeing the film I must take take back that prejudice as I found myself really enjoying it - major kudos go out to one Dave Coyne for his job well done! - If you get the the chance to see this little independent please do so....
