THE REVIEW
In DISTURBANCE, a civil battle between an alien race is occurring. Dreading extinction on their home planet, an alien life form had plans to come down to earth and inhabit the bodies of the not so model citizens's of our world, i.e ; Hookers, drug pushers, pimps and the like. In short the aliens decide against their plans as they can take not pleasure in the killing of humans, but just like in the bible there will be sinners. It just so happens that about 100 of the life forms have disobeyed the commands of their leader and have headed to Earth anyway. When they arrive, one problem occurs, Sure they take form of the less prominent, but the problem is that these bodies are often riddled with diseases and different illnesses so therefore the bodies will not last them long. With the will to survive on earth, they begin to kill the innocent, that is where a secret government agency comes in. The agency has preserved the body of serial killer/rapist Hud Masters post his execution, with the body they house the spirit of the alien leader. In the body of Masters, the leader plans to fight back and with the help of a special pill that has been design to force the alien to exit the victim's body, he plans to rid of the species for good.

DISTURBANCE, previously named CHOKER, is a film that in the vein of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS and THE HIDDEN, a typical "aliens taking over our bodies" type of film. The difference in comparison with those films is probably the budget and the fact that the plot was more developed, and of course a more formidable cast. The film does have a light night cable feel that I do appreciate, and the action was somewhat enjoyable, but lack of plot depth and character development rather hinder my liking for the most part. Watching the defeated aliens throw up neon green goo is in fact fun, but the story is just not heavy enough. We later lean just who Hud Masters is and the fact that it's not really Hud at all, just his body. The knowledge of him being a murder and rapist are later revealed to us, but no proof is presented anywhere - we know he at one time killed his folks, but as far as I can remember, no evidence of rape is shown. And at least we do get mixed info on the main character, because as far as the supporting characters go, we hardly have a chance to know them at all.

As hinted on, I thought some of the effects were fun to see, but then again there is really nothing to them, they are used very sparingly and are very basic to begin with. This mediocre paced thriller offers nothing truly memorable not even it's characters are to remember. With the recent abundance of similar films(CANDY STRIPERS, and DECOYS spring to mind) this film fails to bring in anything new nor original to the table.

GORE METER
1/10 do unrealistic looking blisters count?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MUSICAL SCORE
2/10 Not that impressed with the soundtrack either really....but big props should be given for the use of some Blue Oyster Cult!

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
Some people have actually found something in this film, but I just don't see what it is. With far more effective films available that are very similar, DISTURBANCE really fails in comparison....
