THE REVIEW
DARK HARVEST 2, has to be one of the most pointless films I have seen in some time.
Basically the story is about a Father, Shy Walker, who apparently seems to have psychic powers. The rest of his family, his wife and 2 young girls are all at a corn maze attraction when suddenly Walker has a sudden trance like vibe. He somehow senses that his two girls, whom are in the maze are in trouble and that the cornfield is haunted by 2 girls almost the same age as his own, who where murdered. Well it also just so happens that the Father that killed the 2 girls is now back and after Walker's wife and kids.
First things first here, this should not be considered or called a sequel to DARK HARVEST. I have yet to see the original but I can tell instantly that these are no way associated. For one, this film was originally called just THE MAIZE : THE MOVIE, but when Lionsgate snatched this up, and for God knows why....the name was changed to accommodate a surprisingly successful original. And in that marketing plan they also slapped a cool looking scarecrow on the cover, that I can tell you does NOT even appear in the film.
I have seen some bad films in my day, but at least they had somewhat of a point or logic. With DARK HARVEST 2, I have yet to find one. Exactly nothing goes on in this film and for a mere 40 minutes or so it is just a goofy man(played by the director) running around in circles screaming for his girls, now what's supposed to happen here. While watching this senseless movie you almost have to check and see if your DVD player didn't accidentally start itself back over, as it's like watching the same damn thing on repeat for an hour and 35 minutes.
And for one thing, if you are a director and INSIST on being the star of your own flick for your own self gratitude, at least find an assistant director that knows what the hell he is doing! The camerawork in this film is horrifically shaky and nauseating and I have seen much better work in a lot of student and fan films. In fact I don't see why this film even got distributed by such a company as Lionsgate, they must be literally insane or something. I know it will seem harsh when I say this, but in my eyes Bill Cowell is nothing much more than a glorified fan filmmaker who picked up some cheap cams and boom mics some where, threw his daughter and her best friend into the cast and made a movie.
The acting is just like i've been mentioning, that of a fan film. The two girls that "haunt the cornfield" are almost laughable as they both talk at the same time, stumbling across their lines, truly nothing to be scared by which is the intension. Basically the whole cast consists of people with little or no experience at all, so you really get what is to be expected.
DARK HARVEST 2 is a film that has amateur written all over it, from bad editing, camera work, directing and acting...you name it, odds are that it's bad.

MUSICAL
SCORE
3.5/10 The score was honestly quite better than the film in which it was featured, but don't expect much.

OVERALL
IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
DARK HARVEST 2 is a film in which I didn't enjoy, and from what I have heard, not a lot of others enjoyed it either. This is just not a film in which you are likely to remember or want to see again regardless or whatever circumstances, This film tries to win you over with little twists at the end, but they're just not enough to make itself a winner.
