| THE REVIEW From Electric Daisy Pushers and released by EI Independent Cinema's Alternative Cinema, comes the latest work of Bill Hellfire, THE DEVIL'S BLOODY PLAYTHINGS. I must say that I highly enjoyed this unique film that blends sexploitation, voyeurism, horror and thriller, all into one harmonized basket. There are few films in which I have seen a blend this unique and that is one of the many reasons this film works. The plot starts off introducing us to Christine, as she confronts her then roommate after she has spent a night out on the town. Christine is quick to accuse the roommate of "whoring herself for drinks". Disgusted, Christine throws her out of the house. Next we see Christine recruiting a new roomate, she has found that in Karen; a sleek, model type woman from South Africa. It is now known that Christine films people without their prior knowledge, and sells the exploitation videos. Christine sees the naive side of Karen and knows that she is very vulnerable to anything she wants to use her for. Karen virtually becomes Christine's slave, Christine tells her what to wear, when to sleep, when to service her and even when to masturbate! When someone is close to finding out about Christine's secrets the bodies pile up... making this film quite fun and enjoyable to watch. With me my friends, Bill Hellfire cannot go wrong, I am a huge fan of his work. The direction is raw, gritty and the overall look of the film looks like Pornography. But did I ever say this was a bad thing? No I did not! The look and feel is why I admire Hellfire's style so much, in all honesty....everything he does is a joy to watch. Take for instance DUCK! THE CARBINE HIGH MASSACRE, he along with Joey Smack pushed the limits on that film. DUCK! spoofed the infamous Columbine High Massacre, and a lot of people bitched and moaned.....Those people just need to get over it, If they would've paid attention they would have noticed that making fun of a real life tragedy was not what they were doing at all. In THE DEVIL'S BLOODY PLAYTHINGS, Hellfire continues to push it with a 9/11 joke and as well as when Zoe Moonshine(Karen) gives a producer that promises to release Christine's "art" out to the world, a hand job. To my shock(well not really...after all it is William Hellfire directing) after the man ejaculates....Christine makes her slave proceed to "clean it up" with her tongue! Truly amazing, and one of my favorite scenes in the film. The acting is quite good, obviously better than some of the actors that were in DUCK! Ruby Larocca is great as Christine, sometimes you begin to feel as if she really is crazy or something, she really takes charge and control over her slave, and I did like how she laughed at everything she made Karen do, The laughing displayed Christine's uncaring manner of no remorse. Zoe Moonshine was truly awesome here and you kind of did feel really sorry for her, as her look gave a sense of innocence as if she wouldn't hurt a soul. I also like how Zoe made it seem like she was slowly withering away at the hands of Christine's mind games. In the end, we have a film with some really hypnotic scenes. I like Karen's "freak out" scenes they really make the viewer feel like they're on acid, with the room spinning about. This film gives you an inside look at just how much one can manipulate another and how much torture the other can receive, it's remarkable to say the least. Excellent performances(at least for Moonshine and Larocca) and a mesmerizing, shocking twist ending that is not expected, round this film off nicely. |

METER 5/10 Not as gory as the title suggests, but it's here. Although it does not look all too real and is a bit funny and cheesy, it is still fun....in true DUCK! fashion. |

SCORE 6/10 Great soundtrack, a nice blend of fuck and punk do the job....most of the score done by ALIEN PORNOGRAPHY, who I remember from the Columbine spoof. |

IMPRESSION OF THE FILM Ok my final thoughts. I really like what Bill is doing, I think it is fantastic, and i'll continue to support and be a fan of his. I am glad to see that the charges and brief jail time he got for having a firearm on school grounds while making DUCK! did not hinder his will to push the limit...Thank You Mr. Hellfire. I'll agree that THE DEVIL'S BLOODY PLAYTHINGS is not for everyone....not for the elderly, not for the immature or squeamish. But for the people that thrive off of a sick shock(like me), this is for you! I can't wait to see what else ELECTRIC DAISY PUSHERS comes up with next!
