PLOT
Sam, a college student in a small Northwestern town, reluctantly joins his roommates in a contest to see who can hook up with the most gorgeous co-eds by the end of the semester. But when men slowly start disappearing around town, he and his friends learn that when it comes to beautiful women, it's what's inside that really matters. |

THE REVIEW
In DECOYS 2, since Constance and her unique breed of heat fearing female aliens were unable to mate the first time around, they return - except this time to a different school in a different location. But what they don't know is who is also there. Luke Callahan who successfully defeated the aliens the last time in their quest to mate with fresh faced male co-eds - is now a Teacher's Assistant at the school they plan to invade. Luke has been traumatized by his last experience with the alien female clan ever since then and often mistakenly has haunting flashbacks of the terror that claimed the life of his friend and roommate Roger - not to mention the girl of his dreams turning out to be "one of them as well. Luke's physician chalks up the nightmares and sightings he has been having as he being delusional, although Luke has a strange feeling. When I group of average college buddies agree to have a contest, to see who can have sex with the most girls, the aliens come out to play, hoping to mate with unsuspecting victims. But when Sam sees one of his friends being murdered by one of the aliens, as expected... no one will believe him - that's when he tracks down Luke for help, and who better since he once destroyed them?
When I saw the first DECOYS about two years ago, I thought it was a fresh, fun and new take on the alien Sci-Fi sub genre. Then about a year passed and then I began to hear news of a sequel and couldn't wait to see it.
So here it is, Luke Callahan the only survivor from the first is back and now hw is a teacher assistant at a new college but, he can't seem to shake the female aliens who changed his life forever. The story feels familiar, they kept the same off beat Sci-Fi comedy humor that we knew and were drawn in by in the first film, but to me since new ideas were needed to keep it fresh... they upped the comedy meter so to speak, it's still very entertaining and funny except this time, to be honestl it just doesn't seem as natural this time around. I feel that the whole "how many times can you score" game brought on by the young college males seemed a little too AMERICAN PIE to me, and a bit "commercial" shall we say, where as the first seemed sincere and even original in it's comedic approach.
As for the plot, I really did like the expansions added on to the basic plot that was introduced in the first film, the aliens are much smarter this time since now they have once made mistakes and learned from them. They know that their motive is love, in that if they get their victims to produce real feelings for them then when they make love and the expected temperature drop does happen the genuine emotion well help keep the males bodies from freezing, thus being able to mate. The more knowledge owned by the girls made this film more strategic in a sense, but with the returning Constance, since we thought she had died in the original, but yet she returns here, it's not long until we figure out why, making the film that much more predictable to me - which the twist ending in the first movie, I admit it caught me by surprise.... and that is why I think it was so memorable.
The only returning talent from the first film are both Corey Sevier as our hero Luke, and Kim Porier as the mean and nasty leader of the alien breed of hotties. The acting is decent i'd say, and whatever isn't decent is made up by minor roles played by 2 actors from the SAW series - Dina Meyer and Jigsaw himself, Tobin Bell. Meyer does a fairly good job here as Luke's physician... one of whom thinks he's delusional and seeing things, that is until she later sees the aliens herself. Tobin Bell portrays Professor Erwin Buckton the teacher that takes Luke on as his assistant as he once taught him and reports him as being his best - the character of Buckton, also ends up being a key element of the film as well as an interesting part of the film's ending. On another note, I do wish Meghan Ory could've returned for the sequel as Alex.
Overall, I liked the film, like I knew I would, but I didn't like it as much as I had hoped. Sure the plot thickened and got more defined this time, but in the mean time it lost some of it's charm, the sequel's humor seemed a bit restricted, The fans of the first film obviously liked that the film was more fluent in it's humor and had dialogue that was bad intentionally just to get a laugh out of you, but this time it wasn't like that - it felt a little more serious. With that said, it was an entertaining film, i'm glad we have a sequel to the original DECOYS, not to mention the alien babes are hotter in this one. But this one didn't leave me feeling the same excitement at the end of the film that the original film gave me.

GORE
METER
2/10 there really is no gore in this film per say, but the women do freeze their victims from the inside out with their alien tentacles....if that counts. Also just as a note, I don't think the effects are quite as good this time either for some reason.

MUSICAL
SCORE
2.5/10 I really hated the score. For some reason they chose to incorporate Hawaiian music into the film, which really didn't feel like it belonged here. I mean it's snowing outside and you're going to play hawaii sounding music...it doesn't make sense.

OVERALL
IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
In the end, I loved the first, but thought this sequel was just ok. This film makes us believe, and I think there will be, another sequel - but this time it hints that it will be a Male species instead of female. After seeing the first film I instantly wanted another, but this time i'm not so sure, as a male species and a 3rd installment to any Sci-Fi film such as this seems to be too cliché and not needed.....don't over do a good thing! I recommend this, but feel the original film has it beat.
