THE REVIEW
DEATH FACTORY has to be the best film, that has come out of Brain Damage Films so far, at least from what I have seen. Now anyone that reads my reviews on a regular basis will know that I am not at all a huge fan of Brain Damage and their films. Some of their films look just plain lazy and unorganized and often makes one wonder just how in the hell they ever saw the light of day. DEATH FACTORY on the other hand is a step in the right direction. But knowing Brain Damage they probably won't keep it up...because with them it's just one big mixed bag.
Prior to the film starting, we have a ridiculously stupid intro explaining the plot by Brain Damage...it was stupid because for one thing we are about to watch the film and it's for certain that most of us are capable of figuring it out ourselves.
Speaking of plot, it revolves around an old factory in which a freak accident occurred. The factory was secretly making dangerous biological chemicals, all was a secluded operation until one day an employee became deathly contaminated with a deadly virus that since caused her to mutate. Returning to the factory, the now half human creature wreaked havoc on everyone that stood in it's way. Years pass, the factory now abandoned still stands and becomes the ideal location for a group of teens to hang out and party, but they are not alone, they will soon learn that 'Alexa' the former employee still lurks in the shadows.
In seriousness the story may sound a little cliché as it does kind of favor Tobe Hooper's THE FUNHOUSE a little bit where a group of kids lost in a huge building are chased by a maniac. But all that aside you do have a rather fun an entertaining flick in DEATH FACTORY. At times the film does became a little too predicable.....like you know when someone is about to die, but what the film does is that despite all that predictability, it still manages to keep you interested simply for the fact that you want to see how all of this ends.
The acting in the film is not all that great really, the best performance out of the group of 'teens' is offered up by Karla Zamudio who does fairly well here. Perhaps the best thing about the film are the other principal roles, the first one is a cameo made by Porn Star turned horror-phille Ron Jeremy his role here is very brief however and he does not really get the chance to shine like he did brilliantly in Phil Cruz's DEAD MEAT. Next we have the character that made this whole film, Alexa played superbly by Tiffany Shepis. Tiffany shows us here that she is capable of playing anything. This role is unlike anything Shepis has ever played, this time the tables were turned as a person whom is almost always the hunted in her horror films, suddenly becomes the malicious hunter! Let me tell you just how great it was to see Tiffany slaughter someone to death it was simply beautiful! Again speaking of beautiful with this role she really does make the ugly truly beautiful....drenched in blood and donning metal teeth, as well as sporting contacts and metal nails......I think only a true horror fan could've pulled this role of and Shepis does just that!
In closing up, this film is by far the best looking visual-wise film that I have seen so far from Brain Damage, still not in HD standards but remarkable for them....

GORE
METER
6.5/10 The gore here may be my favorite part, it is pretty gory as Alexa claws viciously into her victims.....

MUSICAL
SCORE
2/10 Another film with not much at all in this department, maybe the occasional spooks. |

SPECIAL
FEATURES RATING
3.5/10 The special features had interviews with the director and the producer, as well as selected cast. Also included are bloopers and spoilers, a photo gallery and a behind the scenes spot. All of this could have been a great part of the disc, but in my opinion it adds no real insight into the film.
