THE REVIEW
I'll start off by saying that I really enjoyed this film! This film was almost a straight homage to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE series of films. With me believing that TCM parts 1 and 2 are possibly 2 of the best films ever made, I naturally welcomed this. This film is about a troubled young man that was once carted away for a gruesome murder back in 1984. J.R. Sorg has not been seen or heard up since, but it just so happens that J.R. and family are hidden in the woods and are still committing murders.
This film is very similar of the TCM series as I mentioned as well as Rob Zombie's house of 1000 Corpses, which are all really good films. The look of this film has vastly improved since the last film I reviewed from 4th Floor Pictures, DEAD BODY MAN, which did not go over all too well with me. I really enjoyed the police footage shown in intervals thought the film it added a great touch to the films artistry, This police footage makes it kind of a documentary in a horror film because it gives incredible insight on Just who JR and his clan is and what they mean to society as a threat.
The acting isn't the best in the world, in fact i'd say the acting was a bit better in Cavalline's DEAD BODY MAN. Eddie Benevich returns in this film as the masked Killer JR Sorg, in this film he did not have any speaking lines which hindered this brilliant actor, but has the silent killer type Benevich succeeds, as his performance was really good.
Next we have Pluto, i'm not really clear as to his relation to JR but I believe that Pluto is JR's son. Pluto's character is a carbon copy of Bill Moseley's Chop-Top Character from THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2, The performance by Peter Blesset is stunning as it is looking like Bill Moseley this is a good thing BUT the character is a little too identical and unoriginal. Another character that I enjoyed is Sweetie, the daughter and sister, played by Tina Krause who gives an outstanding performance. Much like Baby in HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, she is just along for the homicidal ride and is much a cheerleader.
The basis of their killing spree is to kidnap and rape the female victims in order for them to have the children of JR, the "Devil's Children" I see this a brilliant sub-plot and for this film it works really well.
Once again Cavalline has impressed me, after seeing DEAD BODY MAN, i'll admit I had little faith in 4th Floor....this film has since restored all belief!

GORE
METER
5/10 The gore has improved very much.....there is a hellacious gunshot to the head that is just really awesome!

MUSICAL
SCORE
3/10 The music is bland, I would of liked to hear more than this film has, I feel more of a soundtrack would've made a far bigger impact.

OVERALL
IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
The reason my rating isn't any higher than 5 1/2 is because some parts are unoriginal, more specifically the Pluto character... it's just way too close to Chop-Top. I would recommend this film to fans of HALLOWEEN, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and the like.
