PLOT
It’s a long holiday weekend at the Lambda Epsilon Zeta sorority house, and a handful of girls stay behind to indulge in three days of partying, sex games and strangely delicious meals prepared by the weird new chef. But as the sisters begin to disappear one-by-one, the remaining coeds – The Slut, The Stoner, The Bible Beater, The Dumb Hot Blonde, The Predatory Lesbian, The Tease, The Dominatrix and The Good Girl – will find themselves trapped in a nightmare of graphic slaughter, involuntary cannibalism and heaping helpings of gourmet nudity.

THE REVIEW
In THE COOK, its a holiday weekend, and members of the Lambda Epsilon Zeta Sorority are headed to Cabo to celebrate.. A few of the members decided against going, opting to stay home for a weekend of sex and drinking - and in some cases, studying. To aid them in their weekend activities, the Sisters put out an add in hopes of finding a Chef to cater to them. One happens to answer, in the form of a quiet Hungarian man, whom refers to himself only as 'The Cook" The man is both strange and quiet, and initially the girls just brush it off as him just being a little weird. But as they would find out, there is a lot more to it, as "The Cook" seems to have a liking for the taste of flesh, and he plans to share his recipes with the Sorority, except there would be one problem, the Sisters themselves would be his main ingredients!

With a plot like the one that it has, you's expect THE COOK to be somewhere in between THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 and MOTEL HELL....or at leas I had hoped that was what I would get. Unfortunately, what we do get is the basic idea of the said plot, stretched out to a little over 80 minutes. The film is nothing more than the Sorority hiring a cook for the weekend who has cannibalistic tendencies....and surprise, he acts on them. We watch as he kills the Sorority girls one by one, in various ways, we also watch as he feeds the less fortunate of the girls to the remaining Sorority Sisters on a silver platter in many, not so delicious looking ways.(hamburgers, steaks etc,) That is basically it as far as this film goes, as THE COOK has very little story beyond this basic concept.....a concept that is really reminiscent of another low budget indie horror called DELTA DELTA DIE - a film, that although slightly lower budget, at least had a story that was more developed at went beyond than being just a comedy with Horror elements included.

Speaking of that comedy, this is a film, that although it has lots of gore shown, it becomes clear after awhile that the comedy is it's main focus here. Now this would be fine with me, had the comedy actually managed to be funny. But the truth is that, funny it's not. The comedy is really dry and unhumorous, almost to the point where it seems almost childish, yet the filmmakers think it's funny, so the jokes never seem to end.

With all of that said, that is not the only problem that THE COOK has, another problem is that you never really at all feel any sympathy for any of the characters - as you are meant to care for the victims, yet they aren't entirely likeable people. Not to mention that the film''s killer "The Cook", is just not that interesting - big deal, he's a chef that kills and has an appetite for human flesh....is that it? In the Horror genre there are many cannibal stories, so at least give us a back-story to set THE COOK apart from the others.

Overall, THE COOK is a film that even though it seemingly has a low budget, has a high production value look, and decent effects, it really has nothing more than just a few girls running, jumping, screaming and having sex - all things you''d be better served getting elsewhere.

GORE METER
4.5/10 Severed limbs, a slit throat, meat being grounded up and a lot more that I can't seem to remember.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MUSICAL SCORE
3.5/10 Various rock tunes...they're ok, nut I thought that on some occasions they were used at the wrong times.

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
Overall, THE COOK is a Horror/Comedy that just tries too hard and seems to have it's mind set on being more of a comedy than a well balanced Horror/Comedy. With very little story, and just not enough going on, I find this one hard to recommend.
