THE REVIEW
Ok another video game adaptation film, which seems to be the moment's top hollywood fad. When I say that it's the trend now-a-days i'm not saying that for the sake of being positive. It was alright when it was original, still not great I might add. Here once again we have director Uwe Boll in yet ANOTHER video game film project. Just like with "House of The Dead" he fails once again. When will Boll ever learn? You can't just take on a certain subject that is highly regarded by millions of fans across the globe, and just throw together some CGI, borrow stuff from the Matrix for the millionth time and just expect it to be good and liked by those fans. Those fans happen to be smart and know every detail of those video games, they expect a "True to the game movie" not some hollywood over exaggerated "eye-candy" Uwe Boll has yet to even prove to me that he is even a real director, as he does is make movies about video games and hires CGI graphic artists to hide behind, while they do 75% of "his" work for him. He has done this for the past 2 films of his. My advice to him is to get some originality and find another subject and leave video games be.
As far as the cast, I have no idea as to why all od this talent would even work on this film, to me it is talent severely wasted. At least they all got a cheap paycheck. The story is far from believable at all, but a talented director could and would have the ability to make it believable. In this case it just does not work, for me. The central cast is very good, but it is almost like they had absolutely nothing to work with. This movie is about ancient creatures risen from the dead that came to unleash havoc on a whole community, we do get that but Boll had nothing to do with that. If it was not for the talented CGI effects artist, the movie would be empty, the plot would be obscure, and more importantly Uwe Boll's pockets would be empty, without them there would be no Uwe Boll, just another empty directors chair, awaiting another up and comer's arrival. This movie belongs to the CGI team... plain and simple.

SCORE
4/10 The music isn't very existent in the film, but at times we get some high charged techno and some soft pop sounding music |

SPECIAL
FEATURES RATING
4/10 We get a behind the scenes look behind the film, where Boll talks about not really much of anything. Also we get an inside look on the real stars here, the CGI crew, and the always existent trailer. |

OVERALL
IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
To me this film was a true waste od one's time, you'd find much better efforts done by some of the great independent directors out there. House of The dead was only a faction better than this but still not a good film. I don't recommend this but try it if you must. |
