THE REVIEW
13 SECONDS is one weird film, and also a film that I expected a lot more from. The film is a lot different than anything out right now, but this can't seem very good when you are watching an entire movie in total confusion.

The film is about a band, whom goes to an old abandoned house to film a video for their new song, (or so I think that is what they were doing) This old abandoned house holds a terrible secret in the house, and secret is that people have been murdered there, With a hideous looking creature stalking the band, you begin to wonder.... is this real or a figment of ones imagination?

This film has a lot of things happening in it that just do not add up. Most of the film leaves the viewer confused, as you can't tell if what's happening is happening or if it is just a dream. For one, 13 SECONDS, has no character development. and the plot has very little development itself. The group of people in this film are supposed to be a band, but you never really see anything that would signify they were, if I remember correctly there were no instruments.

One of the biggest complaints I have about this film is the sound. Sometimes the sound volume level is not always the same. I would turn up the volume to hear poorly amplified dialogue, only to be blasted out of my socks a few minutes later by the score.

What I did like about this film was the direction although this film is rather slow and dragged out, it is well directed. This film does have it's moments though, involving great gore effects but needed good enough acting by the cast to escalate that even further. Speaking of acting, I do not want to sound rude here, but excluding a few instances, this is some of the worst acting I have ever saw. I have seen a lot of indie horror pictures so I know bad acting, and 13 SECONDS' cast just lacked raw emotion. Ironically the best performance comes from Jeff Thomas, the director himself.

Despite an interesting ending, this is a film that may confuse a lot of people.

GORE METER
6/10 The gore is the best and strongest part of this film, we have bleeding walls and nails to bloody strangulations .

MUSICAL SCORE
3/10 well since the volume was incorrect while watching this, the score is what scared me not the movie itself. It's pretty basic, I can only really remember one track.

SPECIAL FEATURES RATING
4/10 Contains ; a deleted scene, photo gallery, early scenes, trailer and a behind the scenes feature that adds nothing to the viewing experience

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE FILM
I hope Jeff Thomas will not read this and hate me for it. I appreciate him and all he's done in getting me this screener, but i'd be lying if I said I enjoyed it and that this movie was for me. This film is for some apparently, from the other reviews i've read, but not for all(including me) I'd still recommend that you rent or check this out on IN DEMAND PPV though.
